The Road to Freedom

No, I am not talking Underground Railroad, I am talking about American Idol.

What a day. Its not even 9pm and I am DYING of tiredness. We entertained one of Jdog's peeps yesterday and it was a long day. We then chilled and went to bed at who knows what time. What I do know is that Jdog was NOT tired and I was beat and just fell asleep on my back and since I was all allergy filled I was apparently snoring. So, each time she tried to get me to stop snoring I thought she wanted me to cuddle but no. Finally I stopped and she fell asleep around 3am. At 4am the alarm went off. We showered and got out of the house by 505am. Jdog made enviable time to the Izod Center - just over an hour and 45 minutes. I am so proud.

We get there, park, and walk around the building (because we just didn't listen to the woman who said take a left at the tree) to the end of the line. THere were two problems:
1. too many annoying people
2. too many people meant that I could not possibly DISH about people.

There were about 15,000 people there - all kinds of people. Some young and some way too old to be trying anything but getting discount movies with the AARP card. Anyway, there was the freak factor, the divas, the princesses, hot tea, scarves, freaky outfits (but not too many), and overbearing parents. We waited in line about two and a half hours and it took 30 seconds to get the wristbands, tickets and two sheets telling us what to do on Tuesday.

So, on Tuesday we have to show up at 5am. We can get into the stadium at 7am. We have our tickets so we will just go to the seats and wait for the section to be called. At that point all the people in the section go to the floor (the nets play at this arena) and 4 singers, one at a time, will go before a panel of 4 judges. Singers will get a no (leave the building) or a no (wristband to another tryout). There was some discussion about this - the crazy mom who told a crazy story but still let her daughter try out, told us there are 12 rounds before you get to simon, et al. However, the security guard, a more reliable source for certain, said more like 6 or so. So, hopefully Jdog makes it through Tuesday and then for the call backs.

I am a wreck but I am really living on the fantasy of course. I have us quitting our jobs and hitting the road in the tour bus - Mr. Anderson on hair, Brad on drums, and babies in tow. How can I not fantasize.

Now, however, what I need to do is sleep.

P.S. The two "group" songs for Tuesday are Hit Me With Your Best Shot - which my sister has some whacked dance routine to, and Ann-Marie and I can do air guitar and drums to - and Get Ready. I am SOOOOOOOOOO all over getting my face on the camera - cause what if they decide they need a cute couple for the next american idol? Ok let's not go crazy it'll be Jdog.

Super Heroes and Super Brothers

Movie madness my friends. There are so many movies out there and I am so behind. Shockingly I have yet to see Momma Mia - but there is something about Trixie's nemesis Meryl Streep singing and acting like a mom to an 18 year old. Of course she could be but didnt she recently play mom to Reif Rinnes or something like that? And then there was that movie where she was the mom in law to Uma Thurman - well that was a walk out for me and basically I am hesitant. Anyway, I have see five movies recently:

1. Indiana Temple of the Geriatric Ward: The opening scene was just laughable and I think that I would have beaten Harrison Ford in a road race - and that says something. He was lumbering - and not in that sexy 1984 Harrison Ford kind of way - this was old man without his walker kind of way. And Cate Blanchette - whom I love - was harsh and comical as the she villian. She was so, ugh, German. Which is what she was supposed to be. Shaia plays his kid and I love and hate Shaia. Loved him in Bones or whatever that dessert camp movie was and LOVED TRANSFORMERS - the best movie of 2007. This movie he was kind of over the top and annoying. The movie needed to be more camp - which it did but it also tried to take itself seriously which hello was not possible given the screenplay. Karen Allen resurrected from the beyond was AWESOME and I am sure Sean Connery got about $100k for having his picture in the film. The snake scene sucked - the plot line regarding the grail was similar to National Treasure 2 which I really liked. Overall this movie was painful that is until I saw...
2. The Batman. Morgan Freeman was good as the ammo man. Heath Ledger, god rest his tortured soul, was great as the Joker. Michael Cane was ok too but sort of overly paternalistic - the old Jeevesish character was more subtle. It sucks when actors die and they have to recast the role. The Joker was the bomb - he was so creepy and totally insane sociopathic crazy fucked in the head character. The plot sucked ass, Christian Bale was horrible, I wanted Rachele the girl friend, to die, the nemesis sucked and the character was laughable and the graphics were horrible. The editing sucked. Everyone kept calling Batman - THE Batman and Gary Oldman was annoying. So, I rolled around in my seat many times and laughed aloud when there was no reason to be laughing. It was horrible and made Indiana Jones look like Shady Pines the vibrant musical.
3. Angelina Jolie Movie - who remembers the name, not me. Maybe Wanted or Unwanted or something like that. Well Angie is in a band of assassins lead by wait for it ... Morgan Freeman (i hope he makes it out of his serious condition post accident). This movie was bizare - the lead character was interesting and he was tapped to be in the assassin group. Of course totally unrealistic what with bending a bullet, speeding in a car doing a crazy turn and pulling someone inside. Now that is crazy shit and impossible but awesome. Angie was too skinny but HOT. The screenplay was pretty good, the actors were well cast, and it was action packed. Of course hot cars and hot women is always a winner for me. But it is a must rent.
4. Hancock. THE BOMB! The best superhero movie I have seen. There was a cameo by the Ironman himself but I have not seen Ironman which sucks but I will find it. This movie however, was well cast, Charlize Theron is HOT, Jason Bateman is hysterical. The movie was funny, action packed, and Hancock is totally loveable. Of course I note the commentary about it being racist - that is the only superhero portrayed as a drunkass pathetic loser with no respect is black. Despite that - I loved this movie. Must own and you have to see it if only to see Will and Charlize in their suits.
5. Step Brothers - this movie was in a phrase a LAUGH RIOT! The funniest movie I have seen. The premesis is that two older folks get married and move in together. Of course they both have sons - one 39, the other 40. Will Ferrel and John C Reilly. They act like 12 year olds but they are adults so it is all about them telling each other to fuck off. I laughed from the time it started until the end. It was great. Must see - totally worth the 40 is now costs for two people to go to the movies and have snacks. It was great. HYSTERICAL. FUNNIEST MOVIE in a very long time. I cannot express how funny this movie was. If you love Will Farrell run to the movies. If you love to laugh, run to the movies. If you like slapstick fly to this movie. The BOMB!

Ok that's it - and if you like the band Sugarland their new CD is pretty hot.
