Movies and Such

I've seen a few movies - via netflix of course.

Tristan & Isolde. If you are someone who likes the tragic love stories of yore, you will like this one. It takes place back in the day when Ireland ruled Britain, or something like that. There were wars, fighting, poison swords, arranged marriages, death of parents, revenge, true love, tragedy, love conquering all yet never materializing because some people still believe in doing the right thing and yet not following their heart and being with their true love. In any event, good movie.

The Producers - Of course Nathan Lane, and Matthew Broderick. Excellent casting of Will Ferrel, UMA thurman, and others as well. The portions that were originally hysterical - were just as hysterical in the remake. Ferrel did a good job as the crazy German, Uma...hot, and the Gay blades - hysterical. If you didnt like the original or the play - dont see it, otherwise put it on the rental list.

Transamerica - great film about a transexual struggling with her decisions, trying to make it in the world but is totally isolated and alone in so many respects. She gets a call from her (gasp) son who was the result of apparently a one night stand. The son was equally lonely and a loner and they trek across the country from NYC to CA together. Great relationship development, great character development (her parents are great! as are the side characters). Must rent.

High Tension - PENNY, STOP READING NOW!!! - billed as a lesbian horror flick. This was the scariest friggin movie I have seen. Why so scarey? Well it was real. Those things you think about happening - happen here. Middle of a farm with corn (hello children of the corn) out in the middle of no where, strange man in jeepers creepers truck comes over, and murders everyone in the house but for the lesbian and the woman she is in love with. The woman is kept hostage and the lesbian follows and thwarts detection mostly. FRIGGING SCAREY lots of gore and killing and a gross scene where the guy was clearly getting ugh serviced and he then picks up the head and throws it out the window. GROSS! I spent fifty percent of the movie with my gingers in my ears and talking to myself because I could not take the friggin murderous noises.

Diary of a Mad Black Woman - Tyler Perry Medea film - CRIED of course. Love, family, not as funny and somewhat similar to Family Reunion - but worth watching if you like Perry.

Well, I am STILL reading Ann Rice for way too many reasons.
