Waiting

I decided to add a quote of the day. Mostly to prompt discussion, spark some self reflection, or maybe appreciation for some new and exciting work. I promise the quotes will not all be from my Bushisms 2006 calendar.

One of my favorite books is Zora Neale Hurston's "Their Eyes Were Watching God." There are many great passages - and the book is a must read in my opinion. So, in the words of ZNH (and clearly I am not following any proper citations here) I give you the following:

"This singing she heard that had nothing to do with her ears. The rose of the world was breathing out smell. It followed her through all her waking moments and caressed her in her sleep. It connected itself with other vaguely felt matters that had struck her outside observation and buried themselves in her flesh. Now they emerged and quested about her conscious." (p.10)

"She searched as much of the world as she could from the top of the front steps and then went on down to the front gate and leaned over to gaze up and down the road. Looking, waiting, breathing short with impatience. Waiting for the world to be made." (p.11)

Many moments in my life have pushed me to not sit and wait. And I am not cognizant of this particular feeling/momentum until the next instance and then the next and the next. And in between these moments, it gets easier to live, breath, and make life happen. To feel those vaguely felt matters within my conscious, within my soul. To live and love and be.
