I need to be smarter
I am on a consummate quest for knowledge but I have grown lax. Knowledge does not only mean that which I learn from People, US Weekly, Entertainment Weekly, or Time magazine. There is much more in the world, right? I have officially decided that I need to be much smarter than my current state. I am dumping the trashy romances, the mindless blather that I read, and subscribing to the newspaper (sound bits aren't enough) and going to read more historical, critical, philosophical pieces. My goal: to be a cooler, smarter, academic type. I know you are saying how can Kar possibly be cooler than at this particular moment. But its possible. Any suggestions - except of course for anything Dickens, Austen, British - I will take.
What sparked this? A conference on Race in the New Millenium. Thinking about these issues always sparks me but I want to be able to sit down and write an article on any subject that piques my interest and in my current state, that cannot happen! I am ON IT!
Boston Legal is on DVR. I love this show. I love David E. Kelly. He is really a genius when it comes to tv shows. He also has a problem of dumping a show somewhere right around the height of success for said show. William Shatner and James Spader are also brilliant in their respective roles. Spader is a nympho maniac and great at it. His comedic timing is perfect. Candace Bergen, how do you not love her, also stars and is also great. Kelly also takes actors from prior shows and uses them as guest stars or characters in his shows. For instance right now the woman who played the young female doctor from Chicago Hope is a new character (not the doc). Chi from Boston Legal reprised his role from Boston Public. Goober from Boston Public has a recurring role. Excellent show.
OK that's it. I am going to bed now! Not sleep but to bed to watch Seinfeld and Futurama. Wait a minute, maybe I need to watch different shows too. Lord, let's not go crazy!

Remember that silly little saying : "The more you know the less you know."
But to truly know oneself, one must know more than all 117 episodes of the Brady Bunch.
AH, like a diamond you have many facets, rather Brady bunch than LSD
You are smart enough. Poor choice of songs ergo, poor choice of words. You just need to be better informed. There is a difference.
It's not so much, "the more you know, the less you know". It is more like the more you know the more you want to know. Knowledge has a way of stimulating lust for more knowledge because one thing gets you thinking about another and then it just goes on and on, ad infinitum.
You can add new and stimulating topics to your blog that won't include movies or tv shows. Gasp!!
GASP is right! You want deep - you got it! Many people don't read this blog as it is I was keeping it down for the peeps, but now... GAME ON!!
NO, it's not "more like" the more you know the more you want to know, the more you know the more you realize how little you really know, about anything, anyone, any where. Lust has nothing to do with it, just think you wanted to use a suggestive pharse. More knowledge does not necessarily lead to knowing one self. You can hide behind anything.
Well, I certainly read the blog. I think you just have to keep reminding everyone until they get into the habit.
By the way, I don't like chapstick at all. It is too waxy. I don't need it anyway because I am certainly not going to be kissing anyone except the dog and she doesn't care.
Lust worked well as a suggestive word. I'd be suprised if it was not used by someone who knows me since it is pretty close to how I feel about knowledge, truth, justice, etc.
And personally more knowledge has infact led me to know myself. So, if it worked for me, it could, in theory, work for others. The more you know about culture, politics, sociology, psychology, race relations, gender differences, glass ceilings, academia, discrimination, social constructs, no child left behind, democracy, et al., ad infinitum - the less you can allow yourself to hide behind. In my humble opinion of course.
