Amazing Race 9

First, for those who don't know the surgery was cancelled today and was rescheduled for next week. So, keep praying.

Amazing Race 9 has begun. 11 teams started out last week in Brazil (I need to go there minus the 20 million people) - we are now down to 9. The show is basically a race around the world. Typical teams include a parent/child, long distance daters, long term married couple, gay couple or at least one gay person in a team, married couple with one dominant angry spouse, dating couple with issues, dating couple close to marriage, best friends, best friends with issues, slutty couple, siblings, etc. It is a show where once again you get to know and love some teams and really despise others. Right now for instance I love the hippie best friends - they seem like they just love each other and have great fun together. And everyone has a nickname. I hate the frosties (who were eliminated this week) because they are weird screamers. I love the caliente mom and daughter team and the sex crazed guys. One of the many interesting things - in addition to the dynamics between and among the teams (racism, sexism, misogeny, chauvanism, homophobia, etc all comes out) - is how intolerant some people are of other cultures. How unaware people are about their privilege in the universe. It is amazing.

Ri-Ri and I need to go on this show. We would be the most beloved Amazing Race couple EVER! Who couldnt love us? Ok we couldnt' necessarily lift our bodies up a rope, and we would need gallons of purel and portable toilets as well as packs of food and snacks and diet coke - but we would be awesome! We need to make that tape Ri-Ri.
